Michael Hornáček

Michael Hornáček received a BA in computer science from McGill University in Montréal, Québec, Canada, in 2008 and a Dipl.-Ing. degree (with distinction), likewise in computer science, from TU Vienna in 2010. He wrote his master's thesis at the VRVis Research Center in Vienna, with a focus in computer vision. During the 2010-2011 academic year, he was with the Institute of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing at TU Vienna, where he dealt primarily with retrieval of geophysical parameters from satellite data within the framework of projects funded by the European Space Agency (ESA). In 2011-2014, he carried out a Ph.D. (with distinction) in computer vision at TU Vienna funded by a scholarship from Microsoft Research Cambridge through its European Ph.D. scholarship programme. His Ph.D. was co-supervised by Carsten Rother. Since 2015, he is with Siemens Corporate Technology in Vienna and Graz, Austria.
